Jubilee celebration at Sussex House School

Client brief: Provide a marquee and catering for 700 guests to celebrate the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee following a concert in Holy Trinity Church, Sloane Street
How Richmond met the brief:
To celebrate the Diamond Jubilee, Sussex House School decided to hold a party for their school boys in central London to follow a concert in Holy Trinity Church, Sloane Street. Richmond were delighted to be appointed to provide the catering and hire a marquee on behalf of the school in case of inclement weather.
Right from the start we were faced with a number of venue restrictions as Cadogan Square Gardens is a public park. The marquee needed to be a certain size, erected and dismantled within specific time frames and adhere to strict health and safety and fire regulations. After sourcing the marquee we worked closely with the venue and selected marquee company to ensure there were no problems on the day.
The school asked us to create two separate menus; a children’s buffet for the school boys and a selection of canapés for the adults – all within a tight budget. Additionally a large celebration cake was requested so we appointed a specialist cake company to provide a 3D, five tier cake, with each tier a different flavour to cater for all tastes.
The children were particularly excited about our ‘make your own’ ice cream cart which included a variety of flavours, sauces and toppings.
Entertainment for the children was provided by Genie Events and included an intriguing mime artist and captivating jugglers. There were also guest appearances by two professional footballers who took the time to teach the boys skilful new tricks and some secrets of the trade.

“Where do we begin to thank you for Tuesday afternoon and evening? Everyone worked so hard on this event and we’re deeply grateful for your professionalism and charm. The headmaster Mr Kaye was completely over the moon with the party and all the guests raved and are still raving – so much of this is down to your wonderful team with heir delicious food (the boys were ecstatic), beautiful presentation, efficient service and all done with a smiling face. Additionally, you left the Square immaculate which was a huge help to all those involved.”
