Barmitzvah safari style
Style of event: Drinks and canapé reception followed by two course sit down meal
Guests: 100 (50 adults and 50 children)
Location: Forty Hall Banqueting, Enfield
Client brief: To reflect the family’s South African heritage at their son’s Barmitzvah and incorporate a ‘fun’ meal which broke away from the traditional three courses.
How Richmond met the brief:
Giving a Barmitzvah a South African theme was certainly a challenge we hadn’t faced before and were not likely to again! But we rose to the occasion and were very proud of our interpretation and final product.
To inject character and create a focal point for the celebration, we sourced and supplied dramatic zebra print chair covers! These were complemented with table runners to match the emerald green colour of the Springboks (the South African Rugby team) and mini wire zebra place card holders and souvenirs, imported from South Africa. Colourful zebra and emerald green balloons completed the tables ensuring the room had a certain enchanting and intriguing atmosphere before the guests even arrived.
As they arrived guests were offered Kir Royale for the adults and a delicious fruity non-alcoholic cocktail with garnish and funky straws for the children. Mouthwatering canapés accompanied the reception drinks – served by a team of Richmond’s experienced and professional staff.
Everyone enjoyed the delicious two course meal of pan-fried sea bass for the adults and fish goujons for the children. The mini dessert buffet was an instant hit as guests returned time and again to make sure they got to taste all the puddings – with the vote for the favourite going to the chocolate shots, just!
A fun twist to the event was the traditional South African ‘Gum Boot dancers’ with guests taking to the dance floor to join in with the professionals – all in their wellington boots! A specialist Barmitzvah DJ provided the music along with themed lighting and a screen which played the music videos as well; ensuring even Granny knew the dance moves to the Cha Cha Slide!
